A New Choplifter Might Be Lifting Off

Brian Fargo's InXile Entertainment last week trademarked the name Choplifter for "downloadable electronic games via the Internet and wireless devices". Fargo is not a stranger to remakes. Fargo's comapny InXile Entertainment remade the 1985 The Bard's Tale in 2004. It is possible that he is looking to do the same for Choplifter through downloadable channels. Choplifter first appeared in 1985 on the Apple IIe. Since then Choplifter was made on the Commodore 64, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari 8-bit, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, MSX, NES, and Sega Master . Soon it might be possible to add Xbox Live, PlayStation Network, or even Nintendo WiiWare ore DSiWare. [Source - GameSpot]

Activision Threatens To Pull Sony Support

Robert Kotick spoke to The Times last week about Sony. Kotick does not feel confident with Sony and he is getting "concerned". He points out that the Xbox and the Wii platforms are much easier to develop for. He also mentions that Sony is expensive to support. Kotick suggest that Sony should cut their price or Sony will continue to lose attach rates. "...we might have to stop supporting Sony", says Kotick. Analysts continue to predict a price cut will be coming as soon as the end of the summer when games start to release for the holiday season. [Source - The Times]

Microsoft Wants Project Natal In Gamer Hands In 2010

Microsoft's CEO Steve Balmer announced at the Executives Club here in Chicago today that Project Natal will be released in 2010. Microsoft showed off their biggest project, Project Natal, during the Microsoft E3 press conference the day before E3 2009. This next gen device gives gamers freedom and allows to use your body to be the controller. Project Natal uses technology from 3DV Systems in which Microsoft acquired from. A few games were demoed at E3 using Project Natal which includes Ricochet, Paint Party, and Burnout. Ricochet allow players to use their entire body to bounce balls to knock blocks in a Breakout style game. Paint Party allows gamers to use their hands to paint and draw on a TV screen canvas. A racing demo based off of Burnout Paradise was demoed using their hands as the steering wheel and foot as the petal. A few non-games features were facial recognition and AI interaction. Project Natal uses facial recognition to allow players to auto sign into accounts just purely with their face. Lionhead Studios help create a AI interaction demo in which a player interacted with an AI named Milo. Project Natal was not shown on the E3 show floor. Only invited press behind closed doors were able to see Project Natal up close. All we have to say about the project is it works and gamers need to get ready to buy Project Natal in 2010. Activision Mixes It Up With DJ Hero At E3 2009

Activision and FreeStyleGames started the DJ Hero fun before E3 2009 even started. The day before E3, Activision threw a secret party at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. It was not much of a secret leading up to the party with Eminem Twittering about the available passes the day of. At the Activision party, Jay-Z and Eminem threw down a few tracks to get everyone excited about the game. Travis Barker and DJ AM even showed up to express their support. During E3, Activision showed off DJ Hero at the Activision stage throughout the show. Jamie Jackson from Freestyle Games continued to demo the game on stage for attendees and behind closed doors. He made mixing look cool and fun even though it was all a video game on a plastic turntable. DJ Hero will include up to 100 tracks. Songs from Beck, No Doubt, Rick James, Foo Fighters, and Beastie Boys will be included. The game will have the ability to play with two other friends pairing up with someone on a guitar and vocals. The game at first looks intimidating like Guitar Hero when it was first introduced. Do not let that fool you. When you get your hands on the turntable and the game, you will not want to let go of it. It is that fun. [Source - Activision]
